I was having the same problem recently and noticed that when I'm in HTML it won't paragraph but if I click out of it into the other choice (can't remember what that is right now), I could paragraph there. Hope that makes sense but then you got it figured out anyway!
Strike one against superstition. I forgot to cross my fingers, but it did separate the lines. (I think I may have actually figured something out.)
